Meet Alex Gates, Design Engineer at Helix Linear Technologies.
Alex, an aerospace engineer and experienced ice hockey player, made the move to Helix a year and a half ago. His time here has allowed him to take a deep dive into the world of linear motion, specifically linear actuation controls, and 3D printing techniques.
Alex thoroughly enjoys the complexity of his job. The majority of his workday is spent on his primary project, designing and testing a 3-axis linear motion robot. His attention to detail, willingness to learn, and creativity make him a very successful part of our engineering department.
"Alex is a natural problem solver. He is not afraid to step out of his comfort zone and constantly take on new challenges," said Chris Gelin, Director of Engineering.
"I love all of the unique projects and robots I get to work on," Alex told us while discussing his Helix-perience. "It's challenging to think about all of the different components, controls, and standards that go into a design, but it's so interesting!"
When Alex isn't hard at work, he likes being active. You'll find him racking up the miles on frequent runs, or on the ice. He's been playing ice hockey for 24 years!
