Meet Dillon Taylor, an Assembly Technician at Helix Linear Technologies

Dillon is part of the Helix Linear team who assembles lead screws and linear actuators. He puts smaller pieces together to produce larger assemblies.

“In simplest terms, I take individual parts and pieces to form a functioning unit,” Dillon said.

Even though the work can sometimes be challenging, Dillon loves his job and enjoys working with everyone at Helix.

“It is a great place to work, and I love the people,” Dillon said. “My job is mentally stimulating, and there is always an opportunity to learn more here.”

Dillon is currently a student at Cleveland State University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Though he is learning a lot in school, his Helix-perience has taught him even more via real-world applications of his education.

“Before working at Helix Linear Technologies, I had a strong understanding of engineering concepts: I knew what the final product should look like,” Dillon said. “This position, however, has taught me about the manufacturing process – how it works and what exactly goes into each piece.”

When asked what advice he would give to a new Assembly Technician, this is what he had to say:

“There will be a learning curve, so ease into the position,” Dillon said. “You cannot start expecting that you will know what to do right away. But it will come to you, and you will learn so much along the way.”

Dillon is looking forward to experiencing the transition from assembly to an engineering role once he graduates.

 

Fun Fact – When Dillon is not working hard in the classroom and on the job, he likes to travel to New Jersey, eat food at his favorite restaurant Hank’s Cafe, and play soccer.
